ABOUT
Mullion is a face that started with the idea of a dominant vertical presence, thus the name comes from architectural parlance for "a vertical element that forms a division between units of a window or screen."
As it evolved, that fine vertical space was directed more into the counterspaces, and so it let the forms themselves become much heavier. The strokes overall still maintain a strong vertical vocabulary and so inform the treatment of diagonals and curves.
Influences definitely come from early 20th century grotesques as well as advertising, commercial art, and signpainters style guides.
In use, Mullion may be best suited to editorial and environments, as well as in specific identities and logomarks, but the font is destined to grow into a family of weights and styles in the coming year(s).
Mullion is an award winner! Recognized with a CA Award of Excellence in Type Design (Communication Arts Typography Awards, 2025).

Mr. Heathcliff
Mr. Heathcliff and I are such a suitable pair to divide the desolation between us.
